Friendship means not invading each other’s personal space

We got a bit sidetracked by the notion of ‘personal space’ while researching dignity, respect and what constitutes good manners.

Different cultures have different ideas of how close is too close. And it turns out that we Brits are not the most stand-offish, despite our reputation for keeping a stiff upper lip and waiting until we are introduced.

In fact, according to a study called Preferred Interpersonal Distances: A Global Comparison (https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/0022022117698039), we’re somewhere in the middle.
