It was good to catch up with our friends at Serious Factory at LT20UK – and see how far it’s possible to go with their virtual reality software. Check out a couple of learning demos that we made using Serious Factory’s Virtual Training Suite (VTS).

The biggest entry in the workplace learning calendar last month was the Learning Technologies exhibition and conference at ExCel in London. With more than 8,500 people attending, 200 exhibitors and more than 200 lectures to choose from, it’s Europe’s leading showcase of the type of work we do.

Ashford was there among the throng of attendees; excited to see current insights and trends, and find out what’s up-and-coming. We were particularly interested to compare our offer with what others – including the ‘big guys’ – are up to. And we can confirm that it looks like we’re working on all the right things!

How did we measure up?

We looked at the LT20UK exit poll and compared the results with our own answers, and with our elearning products and services.

‘Which company stood out the most for you at the show today?’

We said:

Serious Factory – because the way they use VR to support practical training, enabling the user to practise changing a tyre on a motorbike, is AWESOME!

Articulate – we create a large proportion of our elearning and mlearning using Articulate Storyline, so it’s always inspiring to see possibilities and learn how others work with it.

Exit poll results:

  1. Articulate
  2. Saba Software ‘talent management system’.
  3. Sponge digital learning company.
  4. Thrive bespoke elearning and LMSs
  5. LinkedIn Learning (online learning courses)

‘Which company do you think you had the most profitable conversation with?’

We said:

Cornerstone – because theirs was the first stall in the show. They are also all about VR, though their main platform is LMS. We had an excellent discussion about partner agreements.

Exit poll results:

  1. Articulate
  2. Bridge LT mobile personalised, accessible learning
  3. Sponge
  4. Desire2Learn (Brightspace learning management platform)
  5. Edcast AI-powered knowledge cloud suite

‘Were you on the hunt for anything in particular?’

We said:

General learning industry knowledge – just keeping our finger on the pulse! Of course, we always want to stay abreast of what’s happening in our industry, but we also like to check that we’re doing what people want.

Exit poll results:

  1. LMSs
  2. General learning knowledge
  3. Authoring tools
  4. Custom elearning providers
  5. Mobile learning apps

On the right track

All in all, we’re delighted to report that the LT20UK exit poll shows we’re on the right track:

  • We provide LMS hosting and support as UK reselling partner of Abara LMS. We can also provide learning management systems from other vendors if preferred, after consultation and when we understand our clients’ needs.
  • As UK reselling partner of Just Author, we provide their authoring tool.
  • We develop custom elearning that’s designed and created to suit clients’ specific needs, in addition to ready-to-use and customisable courses.
  • We have a growing number of mobile learning aids (‘Ask Ashford’) on various topics including the Coronavirus, Hand Washing, Food Safety & Hygiene, and Fire Safety. Although they’re designed for use on a mobile device, they’re also suitable for accessing via a PC. They’re available as web-based learning or for use via an LMS.
